Day 6: God Is Near to the Brokenhearted - Women's Daily Devotional

Key Verse for today "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

Devotional: Sadness can feel isolating. When our hearts are heavy, it’s easy to believe we’re alone in our pain. But God’s Word assures us that He is especially near to those who are hurting. Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted." God doesn’t stand at a distance; He draws near, offering comfort, strength, and love.

Jesus himself knew sorrow. He wept with those who grieved and felt compassion for those in pain. Our Savior understands our sadness and promises to be with us, even when we feel overwhelmed. In John 14, Jesus reminds us of the gift of the Holy Spirit, the "Comforter" who dwells within us, providing peace and strength in our most difficult times.

When we’re sad, we can take comfort in knowing that God sees every tear and hears every cry. He is not indifferent to our pain—He is with us, tenderly carrying us through. In His presence, we find solace, and in His promises, we find hope.

Reflection & Prayer Prompt: Think about a time when you felt God’s presence during a difficult moment. If you’re feeling sad today, ask Him to draw near to you and provide comfort.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being close to me in my sadness. When I feel brokenhearted, remind me of Your love and presence. Help me to trust that You are with me, even in my pain, and that You will carry me through. Amen.
