When You're Tired of Holding It All Together

You don’t have to be strong all the time. God’s strength is enough—especially when yours runs out.

Key Verse:
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9

Devotional:
There’s a silent pressure many Christian women feel—to always be strong. For your family. For your friends. For your church. You show up, hold things together, and keep going, even when your heart is running on empty. But here’s the truth: God never asked you to be the strong one. He asked you to rely on His strength.

In 2 Corinthians 12, Paul talks openly about his “thorn in the flesh”—a weakness he begged God to take away. But God’s response wasn’t to remove the burden. It was to offer grace. “My power is made perfect in weakness.” What a freeing truth. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to be enough. Because God already is.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is surrender. Let the tears fall. Let the plates drop. Let the masks come off. In your weakness, God shows up in power. He fills in the gaps. He carries what you can’t. You don’t have to hold the world together. That’s His job.

Reflection & Prayer Prompt:
Ask yourself: Where am I trying to be strong on my own?
What burden have I been carrying that I need to surrender to God today?

Faith in Action:

  • Journal: Write down one area where you feel especially weak or overwhelmed.

  • Surrender: In prayer, give it fully to God—out loud or in writing.

  • Share: Reach out to a trusted friend or mentor and let them pray for you.

Prayer:
Lord, I’m tired of pretending I have it all together. You see the weariness in my soul. Thank You for loving me in my weakness. Thank You for offering Your strength when mine runs out. Help me lean on You, not just when I’ve reached my limit, but every single day. Be my strength, my peace, and my rest. Amen.
