Why Autumn Might Be God's Favorite Season
What falling leaves and cooler days can teach us about God's unchanging faithfulness.
Key Verse:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1

Devotional:
As autumn settles in with its crisp air and changing leaves, nature begins its gentle process of letting go. Trees release what they no longer need, shedding leaves in preparation for the stillness of winter. At first glance, it may seem like death or loss. But in reality, it's the beginning of renewal.
God designed the seasons to mirror the rhythms of our own lives. Just as the trees don’t cling to their leaves, we too are called to release what no longer serves us—old habits, unhealthy attachments, past hurts, or even good things that have simply run their course.
Letting go isn’t always easy. We often fear what we’ll lose more than we trust what God will grow in its place. But autumn reminds us that there is beauty in surrender. As the landscape transforms into brilliant reds and golds, it becomes a living testimony to the quiet work of God preparing the earth for something new.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us that there’s a time for everything—yes, even a time to let go. When we trust God's timing and release what He’s calling us to lay down, we make room for His purpose to take root in our lives.
So maybe fall isn’t just a season of dying leaves—maybe it’s God’s way of inviting us to a deeper kind of life.
Reflection & Prayer Prompt:
Take a moment today to ask:
What is God asking me to release in this season?
What am I holding onto that’s keeping me from growing?
Faith in Action:
Take a walk outdoors and collect a leaf as a physical reminder of something you need to let go of. Write it down in a journal or pray over it, asking God for the courage to surrender it to Him.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the beauty of autumn and the reminder that letting go can be part of Your perfect plan. Teach me to trust You in the transitions. Help me release what is no longer fruitful so I can grow in the direction You’re calling me. I believe You are working in every season. Amen.
